Tutorial: How to check the livery UV data for PCARS 2 model in 3ds Max.

1. Select our parts with body material

Spoiler

2. Apply modifier "Unwrap UVW" to these objects

Spoiler

3. Set channel to 2 and press "Enter":

4. Press "Abandon" in the dialog window. Thus, we will force the modifier to read the second channel and work with it.

5. Press "Open UV Editor..." button:

6. In the window that opens, we see our body mapping. Yes, some parts are too much scaled, but the main part that is used for applying paintwork is located within the work area.

That's all! Enjoy!

NOTES:

  1. If you want to transfer the mapping from the second channel to the first - after step 4, repeat step 3 again, but specifying the first channel and clicking the "Move" button in the dialog box, and then apply a modifier (select "Collapse All" in the modifier stack).
  2. Not all parts can have correct mapping even on the second, third, fourth and other channels. Most likely, either it was intended by the authors of the model, or this is a importer's bug.
  3. OBJ format can store only the very first UV channel of all available. Please keep this in mind when saving in this format.

It is too bad that the tools would not be published, as it would take a lot of work off your back. I think like everyone, it is an awesome car list, so hopefully all of them will eventually be done.

For me:

1967 Lotus 51 Formula Ford - Personal project I would like to work with

1998 Panoz Esparante GT1 - The is the best looking model of anything that is currently out there

2016 Audi R18 - Same reason as the Panoz.

2016 Ginetta LMP3

Eventually:

All the 1998 GT1

Jaguar XJR-9

Nissan ZX-Turbo

2016 Indycar

Porsche 917/10

Porsche 936/77

Really looking forward to everything really. I'm glad to see that getting the models from PC2 is possible!
